Frequently Asked Questions

How does an eSIM work in Grenada?

An eSIM in Grenada works by connecting your device to local mobile networks such as Digicel and Flow (LIME) without needing a physical SIM card. Once you purchase and activate your eSIM data plan, it downloads a digital profile to your compatible device, giving you instant access to mobile data across the island. This means you can arrive in Grenada already connected, avoiding the hassle of finding a local SIM card shop.

Which phones and devices are compatible with eSIM for travel to Grenada?

Most modern smartphones support eSIM technology, including iPhone XS and newer, Samsung Galaxy S20 and later, and Google Pixel 3 and above. Before purchasing an eSIM for Grenada, check your device settings to confirm eSIM compatibility and ensure your phone is carrier-unlocked. Some newer iPads, smartwatches, and laptops also support eSIM connectivity.

What is the network coverage and data speed like with an eSIM in Grenada?

eSIM plans for Grenada typically connect to Digicel or Flow, both of which offer reliable 4G LTE coverage across major areas including St. George's, Grand Anse Beach, and other popular tourist destinations. While coverage in mountainous or rural interior areas may be slightly reduced, most travelers will experience good data speeds for browsing, navigation, and social media. Speeds are generally sufficient for video calls and streaming in well-populated areas.

How do I activate an eSIM before traveling to Grenada?

Activating an eSIM for Grenada is straightforward - after purchasing your plan online, you'll receive a QR code or activation link via email. Simply scan the QR code in your device's cellular settings to install the eSIM profile, which can be done before you depart. Once you land in Grenada, enable data roaming on the eSIM line and your device will automatically connect to a local partner network.

Is an eSIM cheaper than international roaming in Grenada?

Yes, using an eSIM in Grenada is significantly more affordable than traditional international roaming charges from most home carriers. While roaming fees can cost $10–$20 per MB with some providers, eSIM data plans for Grenada offer packages starting at just a few dollars per gigabyte. This makes an eSIM the most cost-effective solution for staying connected while exploring Grenada's beaches, rainforests, and spice plantations.

Can I use my eSIM for calls and texts while in Grenada?

Most travel eSIM plans for Grenada are data-only, meaning they provide mobile internet but not traditional voice calls or SMS. However, you can easily make calls and send messages using data-based apps like WhatsApp, FaceTime, Zoom, and Skype over your eSIM data connection. If you need a local Grenadian phone number for receiving calls, consider a plan that includes voice services or use your original SIM line alongside the eSIM using your phone's dual-SIM capability.

When does my plan start?

This plan: On first use abroad. Validity starts when the eSIM first connects to a network - install before you fly, pay nothing until you land.

"On first use abroad" plans start when the eSIM first connects to a network at your destination, so you can install them before you travel. "When installed" plans start the moment the eSIM is added to your phone, so install those on arrival.
